Toys. Whether you may be thinking of a miniature remote-controlled race car that you got for your eighth birthday, or even a little Barbie doll, toys are important to most children. Many of us can get toys easily – just go to Toys “R” Us, and buy whatever we could possibly want. However, there are also other of countless children who do not have these privileges.
This year, the Anthony Wayne Middle School is holding its 10th annual Toy Drive. During this time, which will end on December 12, students from grades six to eight have been and are encouraged to bring in new, unwrapped toys for these less fortunate children. By kindly donating these toys, children all over Passaic County will get holiday presents. Randomly selected students will also have the opportunity to go to the firehouse and give out some toys! While this Toy Drive is mainly to help the poor kids around us, it is also a time to break old records. Just years ago, we have accumulated over 1500 toys, and this year, we are hoping to come close, or even get over this number of toys. So, please remember to bring in new, unwrapped toys. Not only will you help break a record; by buying a simple, inexpensive toy, you can help transform a life forever.

Anthony Wayne's annual Toy Drive has just ended, and we have collected more than 1575 toys for children in need, all over Passaic County! This Monday, December 15th, some of our sixth to eighth grade students, along with Mr. Grant and Mrs. Avolio, went to a Paterson firehouse to distribute the toys as gifts to the poor. Not only did the students have a fun time, many people felt pleased at our school's students' efforts and successes with the Toy Drive this year. Thank you, classmates, for helping make the holidays happier and brighter for many unfortunate children!
