Klay Thompson was on a drive to the basket in the third quarter of Monday night's 108 to 105 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. While the win was fun, Thompson received some troubling news: he had sprained his ankle and that he would not be able to play for the next 7 to 10 days. This could be upsetting to the Golden State Warriors in their upcoming game against the Pelicans. -DOMINIQUE M.
The NFL Super bowl 49 finals was held on Sunday, February 1st, 6:30 P.M. at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. In the first two quarters it seemed that the Seattle Seahawks were winning. Next, in the 3rd and the 4th quarter the New England Patriots picked up and they ended up winning the game in the last quarter touchdown.
After, the first two quarters there was a Half-Time show starred Katy Perry and then the game continued. The funny commercials were one of the reasons why the people watched the Super Bowl. Finally, The score was NE Patriots - 28 to S Seahawks - 24 and this game was a big victory to the Patriots. - Supritaa M. S. Recently, a certain football game has taken place in Arizona, pitting the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots. The two team brawled and battled for the title of Super Bowl Champion, but ultimately it was the Patriots that came out victorious. Winning 28-24, the whole team and all of their fans were ecstatic. With all the hype going on last Sunday before and after the game, not many people were quick to notice the new rumor called “The Deflate-Gate” going around about the Patriots.
Apparently, the Patriots footballs were checked to make sure they met the regulations, and the NFL discovered that they were in fact, deflating their footballs below the standard. It is confirmed that Ryan Grigson, the general manager of the Indianapolis Colts, was the one to leak to the NFL headquarters that the Patriots might be tampering with their footballs. Allegedly, when one of the Colts players, linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, intercepted a pass set to Tom Brady, he noticed it was a bit flat, leading to Grigson lodging the complaint. However, numerous Patriots fans have risen up to defend their team’s pride and integrity, stating that the allegations are lies. Now, anonymous tips are coming in all over, saying that the NFL exaggerated how deflated their footballs really were. For example, Ian Rapoport said on NFL Network, “As far as the 11 footballs that I am told were below the 12.5 PSI, one was about two pounds under. Several were about a pound under, and several more were just a tick below 12.5 PSI.” Nothing has been completely proven yet, but as the time goes on, more and more about this breaking story is being developed and revealed. No one can know for sure whether it was intentional tampering by the Patriots coach Bill Belichick, or whether it was just an honest slip-up that was never meant to happen. Either way, the Patriots are currently enjoying their recent Super Bowl victory, concluding yet another successful football season. As many people may have already found out, Cam Newton (the Carolina Panthers' quarterback), was involved in a car crash on Tuesday (12-9-14). Reports say that his truck and a car collided causing his truck to roll over several times while he was driving in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was soon taken to a hospital to see what the injuries were. Newton has two fractures in his back now, due to the crash. Thankfully, he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and is hopefully beginning to recuperate. Get well soon Cam! -Bryson B.
