You opened your locker after lunch, and just on top of all your typical books and folders and whatever else you may have was a small slip of paper. You may be wondering, “Where did this come from?” or maybe, “Who put this here?”
This Thursday afternoon, all eighth-graders received a small flyer in their locker, about a new peer-support group starting in our school. This supportive group was started by several eighth-graders who want to help other people their age with their personal difficulties. The group will meet on certain days during the lunch period. Overall, these students will be unbiased, and they will never tell anyone else about your troubles. Of course, our Guidance counselors are also there to aid and support our student body. However, if you are looking for help from peers who are your age and can also be trusted, this support group can help.
Along with getting advice, you can also join the group and give advice to others. This way, you can help the others around you who are struggling, too.
In order to join the group to either give or obtain advice, fill out the questionnaire at http://tinyurl.com/AWMSPeerSupport. -Andy B.
* Note: the group is currently only open to 8th grade students
