Lights. Camera. Action! There’s been plenty of that at AWMS’ newly introduced Talent Show. This past Thursday, May 21st, students of all different grades were able to take the stage, showing off their many talents and skills. Acts ranged from numerous talents, and everyone had fun showing off what they can do.
Hosted by our fellow student Anthony Gail, there were an outstanding number of people who participated. Some people, like Alex, found the chance to show off their wondrous piano skills. Playing a piece called “Dizzy Fingers”, amazing everyone with his swift, graceful movements and increasing momentum as the song went on. In addition, the show started off strong, as Eddie kicked off the show with his piano cover of Sia’s hit song, “Chandelier.” Another talented individual, Isabelle, left everyone speechless with her playing “Song for Sienna” by Brian Crain. Additionally, no one can forget about Justine, with her terrific singing and playing that day that left everyone speechless.
Along with all these stunning pianists, many talented singers performed that day. Everyone loved watching as students such as Devon, Zack, and Tara took the stage, and were left awe-stricken when Deanna showed off her pipes with “If I Ain’t Got You.” Of course, who could forget Supritaa singing her beautiful cover of “Someone Like You.” Adding to these breathtaking singers was Naila, covering the sweet tune of Kodaline’s “All I Want.” She showed everybody just how amazing a single set of pipes can be. Moreover, we have to acknowledge Sakshi on her wonderfully entertaining, traditional Indian dance. It was great to see a piece of her culture up on the stage.
Ending the talent show with a bang, special guest performer and recent graduate, Jared Shiffman took the stage at the very end, making everyone laugh as he entertained the audience with his magic and comedy act. Certainly he deserves a huge round of applause for coming all the way back to our school, performing an act he put together on his own time.
On top of all of these incredible performances the one that took the cake (or should I say pie?) was the final event of the night: Mr. Grant’s pieing, done by raffle winner Amalia. This moment left everyone smiling for the rest of the day! It was such a great idea to get students together a couple times more before the school year ends to celebrate ourselves and our fellow classmate's talents! A very special thanks to all those who participated last Thursday! It takes a lot of guts to get out on stage, and you really showed everyone how much hard work and determination can pay off in the end!
