For years, scientists have debated the afterlife. The vast unknown has been interpreted through beliefs in heaven and hell, enlightenment, judgment day, reincarnation, and even pure death. However, due to new findings from a 4-year-old boy in Oklahoma named Ryan Hammons, philosophers are now taking another look at what exactly could happen after you die. Hammons has publicly claimed that he is a reincarnation of a former powerful Hollywood agent named Marty Martyn. This claim could have easily been dropped, if it wasn't for the astonishing details the boy was able to provide.
According to Cyndi Hammons (the boy’s mother) her son has experienced strange dreams, and visions in his sleep. Often, he would wake up from “nightmares” in which he dreamed of a Hollywood life, where he met famous people and worked in “show biz.” Amazingly, the boy was able to recall extensive details and describe specific parts of his dreams. About a year later, the boy had come to the conclusion that he was getting visions from his past life.
Moreover, he claimed to be a certain individual, though he could not place a name at first. They would have never found out this information if it weren't for his mother’s curiosity in what her son said to her about a “past life.” One day, while perusing through pictures from an older Hollywood, they found their answer. Cyndi was astounded when her young boy pointed to a random extra in the back of a shot from the movie “Night After Night” claiming to be the man. As seen above, that man turned out to be Marty Martyn who has long been dead.
This may have seemed like child’s play if the boy hadn't provided accurate descriptions of this man’s life. According to Fox news, Ryan was able to name 55 details about Martyn. He knew things such as, how many times Martyn has been married and the amount of children and sisters he had. Fox news also stated that even one of Martyn’s daughters couldn't name some of these things. However the man questioning this matter, named Dr. Jim Tucker, soon became skeptical when Ryan claimed that as Marty Martyn he had died at the age of 61. Apparently, Martyn’s death certificate said that he had died at the age of 59. After researching this Hollywood figure more thoroughly, Tucker discovered that the boy was right all along. Marty Martyn died at the age of 61. This proved how spot on Ryan’s accounts were about his “past life.”
Although, many theories still swim around as to whether or not this claim is a hoax; at the end of the day it all comes down to your personal beliefs. This story can be viewed and interpreted in many ways. Either way, strange news stories such as this one are very enjoyable and can give a lot to think about. One strong message is how short people’s lives actually are. Instead of spending them on ourselves, we should devote them to the people around us. Maybe then people will remember our names, oh and death dates, too.
