On Friday, April 10, Anthony Wayne lit up in pink. Students wore everything from fluffy tutus to kneehigh, neon pink socks. Unfortunately, few people knew the real reason behind the surprise spirit day. The true reason was not a celebration, but a memoriam. Little 6 year old Lily LaRue Anderson, who was a first grader at Ryerson Elementary School, passed away from DIPG Monday April 6th at 7:01 AM. According to google, “ DIPG is a tumor located in the pons (middle) of the brain stem. The brainstem is the bottom most portion of the brain, connecting the cerebrum with the spinal cord.”
Lily was diagnosed last May, and was given six months to live. As a gift from god, she got to see eleven. She was a sweet little princess with a big heart, and a huge love of unicorns. Anthony Wayne has also been raising money for the Anderson Family by selling bracelets . Unfortunately, they are no longer ebing sold. But, if you would like to help support the family or the cause, you can donate Although Lily may be gone, she is forever in our hearts. #TeamLilyLaRueForever
