Recently, for the first time, researchers from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia have found a way to completely delete HIV from human cells by "taking" them out. Dr. Kalili the professor and chair of the department of neuroscience and a group of students used a DNA enzyme Cas9 to eliminate the virus. According to Dr. Kalili, "It's an exciting discovery but, not ready to go into the clinic.” Overall, Dr. Kalili and the students at Temple University hope that soon there will be a solid cure to HIV after this new discovery. - Supritaa M.S.
