Space is indeed so vast and unknown, that humans will never be able to explore most of its mysterious regions. Although little is known about this dark world, every year scientists find fascinating new facts about it. Recently, astronomers have spotted a new galaxy that is 13.1 billion light years away. This galaxy was named EGS-zs8-1, and is considered to be the most distant one; beginning 670 million years after the Big Bang Theory. This galaxy’s age beats the previous record by about 30 millions years! However, astronomer Garth Illingworth says that the record isn't something that is hard to beat. With so many galaxies and planets, there is more than one space wonder that can achieve such history.
EGS-zs8-1 has been causing quite a buzz. According to astronomers, the new galaxy is growing at a super fast rate and is also larger in size than most galaxies about its age. Plus, EGS-zs8-1 currently produces its stars 80 times the rate of our current galaxy. Such active behavior is unusual and astronomers are trying to take a closer look at their find. Although, neat pictures of this galaxy were taken, there is much to know about it. Being proclaimed as the oldest galaxy found, EGS-zs8-1 holds many untold stories humans have yet to find out.
Unfortunately, it is less likely that humans will ever reach the new galaxy. However its existence allows some room for interpretation. This new find proves that there is so much out there that humans haven’t seen. Imagine thousands of galaxies each with their own planet Earths! Who knows what is found in the depths of the darkness? Maybe there are planets with strange creatures, or maybe there are even humans like us. And maybe just maybe, right now someone out there is sitting and writing about our own galaxy. The real question is, are they capable of reaching us?
